Lawai Beach Resort

Koloa, Kauai, HI

About This Camera

This live camera streams from Lawai Beach Resort on Kauai's sunny south shore, near the town of Koloa in the Poipu area. The view captures the calm, protected waters of Lawai Bay — a crescent-shaped beach sheltered by rocky headlands on either side. This is one of Kauai's most family-friendly swimming spots, with gentle waves, warm water, and a sandy bottom that slopes gradually into the bay. Lawai Bay is also one of the best snorkeling locations on Kauai's south side. The rocky edges of the bay are home to green sea turtles, tropical fish, and the occasional Hawaiian monk seal hauled out on the rocks. The camera often captures these wildlife moments — sea turtles surfacing to breathe, monk seals basking in the sun, and the occasional whale breach during humpback season (December through April). The south shore of Kauai receives more sunshine than almost anywhere else on the island, making this one of the most consistently clear and watchable cameras in our network. Morning conditions (7-10 AM HST) are typically glassy and perfect for snorkeling. Afternoon trade winds can create a light chop but the bay's sheltered position keeps conditions manageable. The resort itself sits on the site of the former Lawai Plantation, and the surrounding area includes some of Kauai's top attractions: Spouting Horn blowhole, the National Tropical Botanical Garden (NTBG), Poipu Beach Park, and the Koloa Heritage Trail. Poipu is also the gateway to the dramatic Na Pali Coast for those heading west.
