About This Camera
This live camera streams from the Sheraton Waikiki, one of the most iconic hotels on Oahu's famous Waikiki Beach. The elevated vantage point provides a sweeping view of the Waikiki shoreline — from the Hilton Hawaiian Village lagoon to the west, across the curve of Waikiki Beach, with the unmistakable silhouette of Diamond Head crater rising to the east. It is one of the most photographed views in all of Hawaii.
The camera captures the full spectrum of Waikiki beach life: surfers catching waves at the breaks offshore (including the famous Queens and Canoes breaks where modern surfing was born), outrigger canoes paddling through the lineup, stand-up paddleboarders gliding along the shore, and sunbathers spread across one of the world's most famous stretches of sand. The beach itself was originally much smaller — most of the sand visible today was imported from Papohaku Beach on Molokai in the early 20th century.
Sunrise viewing (5:30-7 AM HST) is spectacular, with first light hitting Diamond Head and gradually illuminating the beach. Midday provides the brightest, clearest views of the water's turquoise color. Sunset (6-7 PM HST in summer, 5:30-6:30 PM in winter) draws crowds to the beach and fills the sky with color.
The Sheraton Waikiki sits on the site of the former Royal Hawaiian Hotel beach — the stretch of sand fronting the iconic "Pink Palace of the Pacific." Nearby are the Royal Hawaiian Center for shopping, Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon, the Waikiki Aquarium, Kapiolani Park, and the Diamond Head State Monument trail — a short but rewarding hike with panoramic views of Waikiki and southeast Oahu.
