About Hawaii's surf cameras

Hawaii is home to some of the most powerful and photogenic surf breaks in the world. The North Shore of Oahu hosts Banzai Pipeline — the reef break that runs the Vans Triple Crown and the Eddie — along with Sunset Beach, Backdoor, and Off The Wall within a few miles of coastline.

Maui adds world-class spots of its own: Ho'okipa is the global capital of windsurfing and kiteboarding, while Jaws (Peʻahi) produces some of the biggest rideable waves on earth during the right north-northwest swell. Our Maui cameras cover Paia Bay and the South Maui coast.

When is the best surf in Hawaii?

North Shore Oahu and Maui's North Shore fire best November through March, when north and northwest swells generated by Pacific storms push into the islands. Summer (May–September) brings south swells from storms below the equator — smaller but perfect for Waikiki and South Shore spots.

Checking surf conditions with live cams

Live cameras give you the real picture — swell direction, size, and crowd — before you make the drive. Combine the cam views above with surf forecasts for the full picture.
