The Kyoto City Tourism Association’s own live camera on the Philosopher’s Path (Tetsugaku-no-michi), the canal-side walk in north-eastern Kyoto between Ginkaku-ji and Nanzen-ji that is lined with cherry trees. The association streams it so visitors can see how busy the path is before they go; in spring it is one of the best-known places in Kyoto to see the blossoms, and in autumn the leaves turn.
TV Osaka’s live weather camera over Osaka Castle Park, with the castle’s main keep on the left and the towers of central Osaka behind it. The park is on Japan’s list of 100 famous cherry-blossom spots; in spring the trees around the moats and lawns turn pale pink, and the rest of the year it is a wide view of the castle, the park and the sky over the city.
Shimogō town’s own live camera at Yunokami Onsen Station on the Aizu Railway, one of the few railway stations in Japan with a thatched roof. The town streams it through the seasons: trains in the mountains of Minami-Aizu, cherry blossoms around the station in spring, autumn leaves and deep winter snow.
Anamizu town’s live camera at Noto-Kashima Station on the Noto Railway, nicknamed Noto Sakura Station for the cherry trees that arch over its platform. In spring the blossoms form a tunnel over the single track and the trains pass under them; the rest of the year it is a quiet country station on the Noto Peninsula.
EarthCam’s camera inside the top of the Washington Monument, the highest point in the capital, looking west down the National Mall: the World War II Memorial, the Reflecting Pool and the Lincoln Memorial, with the Potomac beyond. The Tidal Basin and its cherry trees are just south of the monument; this is the wide view over the Mall, not a close-up of the trees.
